First and foremost: I am a writer. Sometimes I pretend to be something else — but writing always finds me again. I used to write every day. Here is the old blog now in petrified pixels.
I am easily wooed by words, and have been known to swoon over beautifully crafted paragraphs and clever phrases.
The web has inspired me since I first beheld its magnificence in 1995. It changed my life and became my career. It turned me into a geek (and I’m fine with that). I like playing with code and widgets and style sheets. So nah.
For over 14 years, I’ve maintained a writers’ resource website: [places for writers]. If you’re a writer you should visit.
I create stories about people I’ve met. And I write parts of people into poems. There is probably something about you here somewhere.
My favourite colour is the inky blue of twilight just before the sky sinks into black.
I like music (particularly fond of Elbow, Doves, The Editors, Boxer Rebellion) and I like to read. I love spinning, hiking, and walking for hours. Public transit makes me anxious. So do dawdling walkers and uneven sidewalk surfaces.
I think humans and animals are meant to share the earth. So I don’t eat either of them.
Other things that bring me joy: Liam and Noel (the cats), red wine, beers with friends, cooking, British reality TV/dramas, loud concerts, the light and darkness of cities, and going back home to rural tranquility. And especially that amazing guy from high school who married me.
I’m sure you’re told this a lot, but you are an amazing, inspiring, beautiful poet. Thank you for sharing your poems with the world. It is a wonderful gift.
That’s very kind of you, Holly. Thank you.
